The Jorge Ordóñez Avancia Nobleza Godello 2023 is a remarkable white wine from the D.O. Valdeorras, produced by the renowned Bodega Avancia. This project by the Jorge Ordóñez group focuses on the recovery and valorization of the native variety Godello in a unique environment in Galicia. The grapes come from vineyards located on slate slopes along the Sil valley. Due to the high altitude and the characteristics of the Atlantic-continental climate, the grapes experience slow and balanced maturation, allowing them to develop their full aromatic and gustatory potential. The harvest is manual, ensuring the selection of the best fruit, followed by fermentation in large French oak barrels, where native yeasts are used to enhance the expression of the terroir. After fermentation, the wine is aged for several months on its lees in the same barrels, adding aromatic complexity and a broader mouthfeel. On the nose, this Godello surprises with aromas of stone fruits, citrus, and subtle white flowers, complemented by delicate mineral nuances and a slight smoky touch. On the palate, it is generous, fresh, and balanced, highlighting the good acidity and the creamy texture generated by the work on the lees, culminating in a long and elegant finish.
