Valeyo 2021 Magnum is a creation of Bodegas Mauro in Bierzo, standing out as their first red wine in this region. This project is the fifth major step for the Mariano García family, adding to their renowned legacy. Originating from a unique plot in Valtuille de Arriba, Valeyo aims to express the elegance and Atlantic character of the Mencía grape, breaking away from common ripe profiles to offer an experience of finesse, freshness, and personality. The 2021 vintage is charmingly reflected thanks to a fresh growing cycle. Aging in large barrels for a year allows for a gentle integration of wood without overshadowing the fruit and vineyard character. Its Magnum format contributes to a slower evolution, preserving freshness and enhancing its aging potential. Aromas of raspberry, cherry, and violets combine with aromatic herbs, graphite, and spices, presenting a characteristic mineral touch. On the palate, it is elegant and precise, with silky tannins and balanced acidity. The long and fresh finish makes it an excellent companion for lamb, poultry, Iberian cured meats, grilled meats, mushrooms, and aged cheeses.
