Malleolus de Valderramiro 2020 is one of the flagship wines of Bodegas Emilio Moro , produced exclusively from grapes grown in the historic Valderramiro vineyard , one of the estate’s oldest and most prestigious plots. The vineyard was planted in 1924 and represents one of the most powerful and concentrated expressions of Tempranillo in Ribera del Duero.
The vineyard is located in Pesquera de Dueroon clay soils , which contribute structure, depth and concentration to the wine. The old bush vines, with naturally low yields, produce grapes of exceptional intensity and character, reflecting the terroir of this historic area of the appellation.
The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks with temperature control, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for around 18 months in French oak barrels , where it develops complexity and refinement.
On the nose it reveals aromas of ripe black fruits such as blackberry, plum and blackcurrant , accompanied by notes of spice, cocoa, liquorice, tobacco and balsamic hints. On the palate it is powerful, structured and concentrated , with polished tannins and a long, persistent finish.
This is a wine with excellent ageing potential , capable of evolving for many years, and pairs beautifully with roast lamb, red meats, game and rich stews.
