Marañones Picarana 2020 is a white wine from D.O. Vinos de Madrid produced by Bodega Marañones in San Martín de Valdeiglesias, in the heart of the Sierra de Gredos. It comes from old Albillo Real vineyards grown in granitic mountain soils, where the altitude and the continental climate with Atlantic influence allow a balanced ripening of the grapes.
The grapes are harvested by hand and fermentation takes place in French oak barrels , where the wine remains for about a year on its lees. This process adds volume and complexity without hiding the varietal character or the minerality of the granitic soils.
The nose is elegant and expressive, with aromas of stone fruit, ripe citrus and white flowers , accompanied by hints of aromatic herbs and subtle toasted notes. The palate is ample and balanced , with good acidity, silky texture and a long finish with mineral and saline notes. A white wine with great personality that goes especially well with fish, seafood, rice dishes or Mediterranean cuisine.
