Massuria 2019 is a red wine made by Bodega y Viñedos Mas Asturias in the Denomination of Origin Bierzo. This wine is the result of a careful selection of old Mencía vines, many of which were planted between 1912 and 1970, maintaining their authenticity and complexity, factors that distinguish it in the market. The vines are grown in clay-loam soils with river stones, favoring balanced ripening and a marked mineral expression. Vinification is carried out by parcels, each with its own character, followed by a blending process that culminates in aging for 12 to 15 months in French oak barrels. On the nose, Massuria 2019 is elegant and very expressive, with intense aromas of ripe red fruit, cherry, and berries, complemented by notes of black pepper, wild herbs, cacao, and subtle toasted hints. On the palate, this wine is fine, balanced, and deep, with soft tannins that integrate with fresh acidity, providing pleasant tension and a good finish. Its finish is long, mineral, and slightly spiced, faithfully representing the new generation of great Mencías from Bierzo. This wine is ideal for pairing with red meats, poultry, game, mushrooms, or aged cheeses, and has good aging potential, making it an excellent choice for special occasions.
