Las Suertes 2021 is a red wine made by Suertes del Marqués in the D.O. Orotava Valley , in the north of the island of Tenerife. It comes from a small historic plot of just 0.75 hectares with vines over 90 years old , grown in volcanic soils and under the traditionalbraided cordonconduction system. It is made mainly with Listán Negro , a variety native to the Canary Islands, accompanied by a small proportion of Listán Blanco, which adds freshness and complexity.
Vinification is carried out with minimal intervention to preserve the character of the vineyard: fermentation in open tanks with a high proportion of whole clusters and aging for approximately one year in used 500 L French oak barrels , where the wine remains on its lees. After this period, it is bottled unfiltered , maintaining its personality and mineral expression intact.
In the glass it shows a bright cherry red color and an elegant nose with aromas of red fruits, floral notes and a marked mineral character typical of the volcanic soils of the Orotava Valley. The palate is fresh, balanced and very lively , with fine tannins and a long finish that combines fruit, soft spices and a subtle saline sensation. An Atlantic red wine of great finesse, ideal to accompany white meats, rice dishes, cured cheeses or Mediterranean cuisine.
