Arriving in the Dominican Republic in 1868, Don Andres Brugal is the pioneer of rum aging in barrels in this region. Brugal 1888, made from molasses of locally grown cane, undergoes remarkable maturation. After 6 to 8 years in bourbon casks, it is refined for an additional 6 years in European oloroso sherry casks. This process, meticulously controlled by the Brugal family for generations, imparts a warm and balanced character to the rum. Woody aromas blend with those of cacao and red fruits, complemented by notes of mild spices such as cinnamon and vanilla, along with nuts and raisins.
