The Casa de la Ermita Roble Red Wine from Bodega Casa de la Ermita (Jumilla, Murcia) introduces us to this red wine from the D.O. Jumilla, made from 80% Monastrell and 20% Petit Verdot grape varieties. It is a very complex wine with nuances and a distinct character marked by the white spices imparted by aging in French oak. It is ideal to enjoy with a wide range of foods in good company.
Vinification: Hand-harvested Monastrell grapes at their optimal phenolic ripeness, with selection of bunches both in the field and at the winery. The Petit Verdot variety was harvested later due to its later ripening. Cold maceration in stainless steel tanks at temperatures of 12ºC for 3 to 4 days to achieve maximum fruit intensity.
Aging: 3 months in French oak barrels.
Recommended serving temperature: Between 14 and 16ºC.
Surrounded by vineyards, the winery is located at an altitude of over 700 meters, where flora and fauna coexist in a unique environment. Its location and care make it the perfect place for unique production, a place to enjoy the creation of Jumilla wines in an idyllic setting, and where you can experience great wine tourism opportunities.
In this land of scarce rainfall and rocky soils, vigorous vines and ripe grapes grow, which are used to produce wines of great texture, with full body and full of personality, captivating both enthusiasts and experts. The main varieties cultivated are Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Merlot, Syrah, and Monastrell, all treated to achieve perfect adaptation to exceptional land and climate.
The winery has an experimental plot dedicated to innovation and development in order to achieve a new, more refined product each day to surprise its consumers and boost the sector, cultivating lesser-known varieties in this area with great potential. Among the experimental crops are Viognier, Touriga Nacional, Caladoc, Egiodolá, Rousanne, Marsanne, Gewurztraminer, and Malbec.
In several plots, work is carried out under the requirements of "Organic Farming", in fact, Casa de la Ermita produces the first organic Jumilla wines, pioneering in the Region of Murcia, thanks to its vineyards respecting “organic agriculture” legislation for over 5 years.
