Pío del Ramo presents the Vino Blanco Chardonnay Barrica from the Protected Designation of Origin Jumilla (Spain), made exclusively with 100% Chardonnay grapes from certified organic farming. This wine originates from the La Florida plot, a carefully selected vineyard that reflects the most elegant and structured character of this variety in the Mediterranean environment of Jumilla.
The vineyards are situated on calcareous and sandy soils, ideal for the proper development of Chardonnay, providing freshness, minerality, and natural balance. The use of a double-arm trellis system allows for optimal foliage management and uniform ripening of the bunches, enhancing aromatic concentration and fruit quality.
The harvest takes place in the early morning, at the end of summer, when the grapes reach their optimal ripeness. This moment is crucial for preserving aromatic integrity and avoiding oxidation caused by high daytime temperatures. Once in the winery, the must is cold clarified in stainless steel tanks, ensuring cleanliness and purity before starting alcoholic fermentation.
When fermentation begins, the wine is transferred to new oak barrels, where it ferments and remains in contact with its lees for three to four months, undergoing three weekly bâtonnages. This work on the lees adds volume, complexity, and a creamy texture, elegantly integrating the aromas of the wood with the varietal expression of Chardonnay.
The result is a white wine with character, balanced and sophisticated. Visually, it presents a bright golden yellow color with warm reflections. On the nose, aromas of ripe fruit, tropical notes, butter, vanilla, and toasty hints are perfectly integrated. On the palate, it is ample, smooth, and enveloping, with good acidity that balances the structure, a silky mouthfeel, and a long, persistent finish.
The Vino Blanco Pío del Ramo Chardonnay Barrica is ideal for pairing with rich fish, prepared seafood, white meats, creamy rice dishes, pasta with mild sauces, and semi-cured cheeses. This wine is designed for those seeking aged whites with complexity and personality, without losing freshness or elegance.
