La Montesa est un élevage élaboré avec Tempranillo, Garnacha et Mazuelo avec une forte présence d'arômes de fruits mûrs, il est agréable et velouté.

À Alfaro, dans la Rioja orientale méditerranéenne, et avec la passion du grand Alvaro Palacios à la tête de la cave Palacios Remondo, des vins très engagés dans leur origine sont élaborés.

Elaboration and aging

La Montesa is a classic Rioja wine but with some more modern features. Montesa Palacios Remondo scrupulously takes care of the entire process with the tradition that their great trajectory in the world of wine gives them. Wine with a marked Mediterranean character.

Elaborated with own vineyards of more than 20 years. Manual harvest. Once destemmed, the must undergoes natural alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks with periodic pumping over. Maceration for 23 days and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks.

Aging for 12 months in a carefully selected range of barrels. 85% are French oak and 15% are American oak.

Tasting note of La Montesa

  • Appearance: La Montesa has an intense garnet red color. Clean and bright. Good tears.
  • Nose: Intense aromas with subtle floral notes, especially violets, accompanied by marked red fruit and herbaceous notes. As it opens up, mineral notes take center stage accompanied by good toasty notes from aging.
  • Palate: With a broad entry and a silky mouthfeel with floral and creamy sensations. Ripe tannins. Slightly bitter long finish. An easy-to-drink wine.

Pairing

La Montesa is ideal to accompany grilled red meats, white meats, roasted lamb, cured meats, and stews.

It is recommended to serve at a temperature between 16 and 18ºC.
