Guarda de Leda is the premium wine of Bodegas Leda. It comes from the oldest vineyards that this winery takes care of in the areas of Ribera del Duero, Toro, and Cigales, which are close to 100 years old and have very low yields.
The 2015 vintage was characterized by a mild spring and a warm and long summer that lasted until November. This allowed for a long and full maturation in both sugars and phenolic compounds. The harvest, after a manual harvest, in 12-kilo boxes and with triple grape selection, was excellent. The maceration was very long, reaching 25 days. All of this has allowed for a wine with good aging potential, intensity in color, and high tannic potential.
Appearance: Intense and deep cherry color. High layer.Aroma: Intense and complex with notes of very ripe black fruits, mineral tones combined with the spicy notes provided by the long aging in barrels.Palate: Firm and elegant, direct and with excellent length. A mature and balanced wine, with sweet tannins that demonstrate good phenolic ripeness. The alcohol and freshness blend with the persistent fruit flavor and the aromas characteristic of aging.
