Discover the unique essence of Rioja with the Valenciso Graciano 2019 wine, made exclusively with Graciano grapes, an emblematic variety for its uniqueness and great aging potential.
The Graciano variety makes up only about 2% of the total Rioja vineyards. Unlike Tempranillo, which ripens early as its name suggests, Graciano has a longer growing season, requiring considerably more time to reach optimal ripeness. This can be especially complicated in our region, located in the north of Rioja Alta, under the Atlantic influence and in plots located at a certain altitude, meaning that not every vintage allows for a successful harvest.
In our vineyards in Haro and Ollauri, we have a limited number of Graciano vines. The summer of 2019, characterized by little rainfall and high temperatures, favored small-grained grapes, resulting in excellent quality and ideal ripeness.
The harvest took place on October 11. After fermentation in cement tanks, the wine rested for 16 months in Caucasian oak barrels, providing elegant nuances and delicate balsamic notes.
Appearance: Deep, bright cherry red color with violet hues that denote youth and liveliness.
Nose: Intense aromas of ripe black fruit, blackberries, and plums, accompanied by spicy notes, floral touches (violets), and balsamic nuances. A subtle presence of well-integrated oak provides elegant toasted and cocoa notes.
Palm: Structured and fresh, with firm yet velvety tannins. Excellent balance between acidity and fruit, with a long, persistent finish reminiscent of black fruits, sweet spices, and light mineral notes.
