Luis Cañas Selección de la Familia is a red wine from the D.O. La Rioja produced by Bodegas Luis Cañas in Villabuena, Alava.
Luis Cañas is one of the Rioja wineries that has been accumulating the most awards in recent years, thanks to its excellent treatment of the raw material, the grape, in the vineyard, and the updating of its winemaking techniques.
Luis Cañas Selección de la Familia is made from the Tempranillo variety (85%) and complemented with other red varieties (15%). Manual harvest in 11-kilogram plastic crates. Double selection on tables: clusters and grains. Destemming. Alcoholic fermentation in 10-hectoliter wooden vats. Malolactic fermentation in new barrels.
Aging for 20 months in new barrels (50% French and 50% American).
Luis Cañas Selección de la Familia is ideal to accompany roasts, lamb, suckling pig, and big and small game stews. It is recommended to decant before consuming and serve this wine at a temperature between 16 and 18ºC.
