The Lunatic Red Wine from Casa de la Ermita Winery (Jumilla, Murcia), presents us with this red wine from the Jumilla D.O., made from 100% Monastrell grape varieties. It is fresh on the outside and balsamic on the inside.
Winemaking: Manual grape harvesting and selection of bunches in the field and later in the cellar. Pre-fermentation cold maceration in stainless steel tanks for 5 days to extract the grape's own aromas. Aging for 12 months in 225-liter French oak barrels. No clarification or cold stabilization treatment is performed.
Recommended serving temperature: Between 15 and 16ºC.
Surrounded by vineyards, the winery is located at an altitude of over 700 meters, where flora and fauna coexist in a unique environment. Its location and care make it the perfect place for a unique production, a place to enjoy the creation of Jumilla wines in an idyllic setting and where you can have great wine tourism experiences.
In this land of scarce rainfall and rocky soils, vigorous vines and ripe grapes grow to produce wines with great texture, full-bodied, and full of personality, captivating enthusiasts and experts. The main cultivated varieties are Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Merlot, Syrah, and Monastrell, all treated to achieve a perfect adaptation to exceptional soil and climate.
The winery has an experimental plot dedicated to innovation and development in order to achieve a new, more careful and dedicated product every day to surprise its consumers and drive the sector, cultivating varieties rarely treated in this area with great potential. Among the experimental crops are Viognier, Touriga Nacional, Caladoc, Egiodolá, Rousanne, Marsanne, Gewurztraminer, and Malbec.
Several plots are worked according to the requirements of “Organic Farming”, in fact, Casa de la Ermita produces the first organic Jumilla wines and pioneers in the Region of Murcia, thanks to its vineyards complying with "organic farming" legislation for over 5 years.
