Mar de Frades is an excellent white wine, made 100% from Albariño grapes. Converted into a historical classic of the designation of origin to which Rías Baixas belongs, starting from meticulously selected grapes after a demanding production process, it delights the palate with an incomparable freshness and maritime flavor.
The Mar de Frades wineries were founded in 1987. In case you didn't know, Albariño vines grow far from the humidity of the soil, which is very poor and shallow. This gives the wine its characteristic mineral character, which comes from the soil composed of decomposed granite sands. Mar de Frades (Sea of the Friars) is a place located in the Arousa estuary, right at the mouth of the Umia river, where a legend tells that pilgrims from the ancient maritime route of the Camino de Santiago would disembark.
Variety:
100% Albariño.
Tasting note:
Appearance: Mar de Frades is a brilliant wine, pale lemon in color, with sparkling lime reflections that invite you to discover it.
Nose: On the nose, it is fresh and intense, with tropical fruit (mango and passion fruit), wild flowers, and hints of eucalyptus and mint always present.
Palate: Smooth and refreshing, while also being soft and flavorful, a wine that radiates light from its saline and mineral character.
Pairing: It harmonizes well with its warmth and freshness with fish-based rice dishes, vegetable or seafood paellas, warm scallop salad, or marinated fish.
