In 1993, just three years after the fall of communism, the Alvarez family arrived in Hungary and founded Tokaj-Oremus Viñedos y Bodegas. The estate's activities are centred in Tolcsva, where - connected to the labyrinth of underground cellars existing since the 13th century - in 1999 the new winery was built.

The Álvarez family devoted much attention to the meticulous and respectful study of this wine in order to learn about its production process and its history. He also strove to preserve, as far as possible, the tradition when he directed the construction works of the new winery
For the management of the new project, which revolves around one of the best located and most symbolic vineyards in the region, the Álvarez family recruited a professional team who knew the terroir very well, and sought out an experienced and entirely dedicated local winemaker to place at the helm of this exciting venture.
