Oremus Tokaji Aszú 2013 5PTT

from Casa Ortega

Temporarily out of stock

A fascinating wine in many ways, both in the conscientiousness of its production and in the countless range of aromas and flavours it displays. Coming from vineyards that are part of the UNESCO World Heritage catalogue and aged in centuries-old underground galleries, it is considered one of the best in the world. Of the three tokaji that we put at your disposal in ORTEGA1939 (3, 5 and 6 puttonyos), this is the one with the most intermediate sweetness. It is still based on the measurements of hundreds of years ago by adding to the base must 5 baskets (puttonyos) of 25 kilos each of Aszú grapes harvested one by one and covered with Botrytis.

Sight: Color dorado.

With a history of mystification quite parallel to that achieved by Vega Sicilia within Spanish wines, the whole sector agreed on the appropriateness of the acquisition of the Hungarian firm by this winery from Valladolid.

In 1993, just three years after the fall of communism, the Alvarez family arrived in Hungary and founded Tokaj-Oremus Viñedos y Bodegas. The estate's activities are centred in Tolcsva, where - connected to the labyrinth of underground cellars existing since the 13th century - in 1999 the new winery was built.

The Álvarez family

went to Tolcsva, where the new winery was built in 1999

The Álvarez family devoted much attention to the meticulous and respectful study of this wine in order to learn about its production process and its history. He also strove to preserve, as far as possible, the tradition when he directed the construction works of the new winery

For the management of the new project, which revolves around one of the best located and most symbolic vineyards in the region, the Álvarez family recruited a professional team who knew the terroir very well, and sought out an experienced and entirely dedicated local winemaker to place at the helm of this exciting venture.
