The Marqués de Riscal Reserva Red Wine from Bodegas Marqués de Riscal presents this red wine from the D.O.Ca. Rioja, made from the grape varieties 93% Tempranillo and 7% Graciano.

Highly versatile and a faithful representative of a Rioja wine, Marqués de Riscal Reserva has been enjoyed by wine lovers around the world for generations and praised by art and culture personalities such as Ernest Hemingway, Salvador Dalí, and Frederick Forsyth.

Marqués de Riscal Reservas are mainly made from Tempranillo grapes planted before the 1970s, located in the best clay-limestone soils of Rioja Alavesa. This variety is well suited for aging in wood and bottle aging thanks to its good acid balance and fine tannins. The Graciano variety, which does not exceed 10% in the blend, contributes freshness and vibrant color.

Production: Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 26ºC with a maceration time that does not exceed 12 days. Riscal Reservas remain in American oak barrels for approximately two years (24 months), creating a wine that falls within the canons of Rioja classicism: fresh, refined, elegant, and with great aging potential. Before being released to the market, it undergoes a minimum bottle aging period of one year.

Optimal serving temperature: Between 16 and 18ºC.

Bodegas Marqués de Riscal

The history of Bodegas Marqués de Riscal is the story of an innovative, pioneering company and a reference in a continuously evolving wine sector.

The winery was founded in 1858 by Guillermo Hurtado de Amézaga. In 1862, its first wines were bottled, thus becoming the oldest bottled wines in Rioja.

A few years after its foundation, the winery quickly began to win numerous awards, but one of the most important came in 1895, when Marqués de Riscal became the first non-French wine to receive the Diploma of Honor at the Bordeaux Exhibition.

In 1972, Marqués de Riscal began producing the first white wines from Rueda, and in recent years, the winery has dared to incorporate two new denominations into the project, V.T. Castilla y León and D.O. Getariako Txakolina.

For those who want to explore the history of the winery from its foundation to the present day and have the opportunity to enjoy Marqués de Riscal wines, The City of Wine was inaugurated in 2006, which now includes a hotel designed by the famous Canadian architect Frank O. Gehry.
