The Vino Tinto Murua Reserva is one of the gems of Bodegas Murua, a reference in the Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin (Spain). This wine, made from a careful selection of 92% Tempranillo and 8% Graciano and Mazuelo, represents the perfect union between tradition, elegance, and the unique personality of Rioja Alavesa.
The Murua Reserva is a wine for aging, designed to offer a harmonious and lasting evolution over time. Its essence lies in the balance between the tertiary aromas typical of aging, and the wide range of fruit nuances provided by vineyard plots cultivated with care and respect for the environment. The result is a long, complex, and refined wine, a true reflection of the winery's commitment to sustainable viticulture and artisanal quality.
Located on a small hill in Elciego, Bodegas Murua has worked from the beginning with a philosophy focused on producing high-expression wines from their own vineyards. The estate is divided into eight plots, planted mainly with red varieties — Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano, and Mazuelo — carefully selected according to soil composition, orientation, and sun exposure, determining factors for achieving wines full of identity and authenticity.
The production process of the Vino Tinto Murua Reserva combines Rioja tradition with modern oenological precision. The alcoholic fermentation is carried out at a controlled temperature, with meticulous monitoring of maceration to obtain the maximum fruit expression. Subsequently, the malolactic fermentation and decanting take place in French and American oak barrels, where the wine rests for 20 months, acquiring complexity, structure, and an unmistakable silky texture.
After aging in wood, the wine remains a minimum of four years in the bottle in the cellar underground, thus reaching its optimal point of maturity and roundness before going to market. This patient process guarantees a balanced evolution and outstanding elegance in every glass.
Served at an ideal temperature of 15-17 °C, the Murua Reserva displays all its potential, showing the harmony between the fruity character and aging nuances that make it a red wine of great nobility.
