The Pagos del Rey Winery presents us with the Red Wine Pago de Fuentecojo, a true gem from the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin (Spain), made exclusively with 100% Tempranillo grapes. This wine has its roots in a unique history, linked to a spring located in a valley near Olmedillo de Roa (Burgos), where in the past walnut, almond, blackberry, and cherry trees used to grow.
This natural richness infused the land with a special character that our ancestors knew how to value by planting the vines there that now give life to this excellent wine.
To fully enjoy all its qualities, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 17-18ºC. It is advisable to open the bottle half an hour before serving or decant the wine to allow it to breathe and unfold all its aromatic potential.
The Pago de Fuentecojo is made with grapes that have ripened in that valley, where vineyards of over 35 years produce small, loose clusters, ideal for obtaining optimal concentration.
After a careful vinification at a controlled temperature of 23ºC, a long maceration is carried out to extract the best from the grape and preserve all its fruit. The wine is then aged for 14 months in American and French oak barrels, followed by a minimum rest of six months in the bottle, thus achieving its characteristic balance and roundness.
Awards: The Pago de Fuentecojo 2020 has been awarded multiple recognitions, including Gold at the Berliner Wine Trophy 2024 and at Vinespaña 2024. It also received 90 points in the Guía Peñín 2025 and Silver at Mundus Vini 2024.
In the last three decades, the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin has established itself as one of the most prestigious wine regions in Spain, producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique character of its terroir.
