BOTAS DE BARRO TORO
Varietal: Tinta de Toro
Region: Toro
Toro is one of the oldest wine regions in Spain and is considered one of the most premium regions for producing great red wines. Thanks to its extreme temperatures and dry climate, the Tempranillo grape, known locally as Tinta de Toro, produces highly structured wines with great aromatic complexity and incredibly intense color. Some of the oldest vineyards in the world (over 140 years old) can be found in this region thanks to its sandy soils that protected the area from the devastating phylloxera plague in the late 19th century. They are also among the lowest yielding vines in the world!!
Vineyards: Centennial vines located in the highest, driest and most arid plains, of Castilla y León.Dry-farmed vineyards with a planting frame of 3m by 3m. Poor sandy clay soils.
Vinification: Manual harvest. 7 days of maceration. Fermentation at 25-27ºC. 5 months in American oak.
