The White Wine La Val on its Lees from La Val presents this White Wine from the Rías Baixas D.O (Spain), made from the Albariño grape variety.

Cultivation

The White Wine La Val on its Lees comes from vineyards cultivated on a 35-hectare surface, with a clayey soil and abundant pebbles, and a characteristic microclimate of El Condado, which allows for excellent grape ripening.

This single-variety Albariño comes from the town of O Rosal, on the banks of the Miño River. From there, they ensure that the quality of the grapes used is excellent, which is why they only manage to put a very limited number of numbered bottles on the market. In the glass, it has a golden yellow color and we can highlight its balance between fruit and oak, along with a creamy mouthfeel.

Bodegas La Val was founded in 1985, becoming one of the pioneering brands of the Rías Baixas Designation of Origin. Initially located in the Municipality of O Rosal, on the banks of the Miño River, the estate called La Val originally cultivated the Albariño, Loureiro, and Treixadura varieties.

Production

Manual harvest of the best grapes from the Arantei estate, with the appropriate sugar content and acidity to withstand aging. Manual harvesting in 20 kg boxes.

The grapes are macerated before extracting the must for 6 hours at a controlled temperature of 10ºC to ensure the presence of aromas in the final result. Once the must has been filtered, it ferments in 225-liter barrels of French Allier oak.

Once fermentation is complete, the wine continues in the barrel where it undergoes a 6-month aging process on lees, being periodically stirred by the so-called "bâtonnage" method. It is then transferred to stainless steel tanks. After this aging process, the wine is racked into stainless steel tanks where it will remain until bottling, allowing the fruity and oaky character to integrate perfectly.

It is a fresh, structured, and full-bodied wine, ideal for pairing with a wide range of dishes such as fresh cheeses and foie gras, fish and seafood, hearty pastas, as well as white meats or poultry. It is recommended to be served at a temperature of 12ºC.
