The Joan de la Casa GG Giró Guerra 2021 is an authentic and distinctive expression of southeastern Spain, made from 100% of the native Giró grape variety, grown in the Jalón Valley (Alicante) using organic viticulture techniques.
This grape, related to Garnacha, is revived by Joan de la Casa to create a minimally invasive wine, full of identity, freshness, and Mediterranean character.
Fermented with native yeasts and aged for 12 months in oak foudres and clay jars, the GG 2021 is a single-vineyard wine that speaks to the terroir, the warm climate, and the revival of forgotten varieties, becoming a benchmark for the new wave of Alicante wines.
Appearance: Bright ruby color with a medium depth, violet reflections, and good clarity.
Nose: A straightforward and highly aromatic nose, with notes of fresh red fruits (wild strawberry, pomegranate, cherry), Mediterranean herbs (rosemary, thyme), hints of white pepper, and a subtle earthy minerality. A balsamic and floral undertone adds complexity.
Palate: Juicy and light on the palate, with vibrant acidity and fine tannins. Very balanced, with a lively yet distinctive mid-palate. Notes of crisp red fruit, soft spices, and a fresh, slightly saline, yet persistent finish. A delicate, gastronomic red full of nuances.
