Macan Classic 2021 is a wine that solidly rests on the winemaking heritage of Rioja Sonserrana. Sourced from the slopes of the Cantabrian mountains, this region is the result of centuries of tradition and knowledge in wine production. Since 2004, meticulous care and selection have been carried out on 100 hectares of vineyard, culminating in the first commercial release in 2009. Following a collaboration between Tempos Vega Sicilia and the Compañía Vinícola Barón Edmond de Rothschild in 2016, the project led to innovative facilities that combine technology and winemaking expertise. Macan Classic is a single-varietal wine, made exclusively from Tempranillo grapes from limestone soils with a clay-sandy profile. The 2021 vintage is characterized by a warm climate throughout the growing season, allowing for great concentration. September rains transformed skin texture, resulting in an expression of freshness, fruitiness, and complexity. Regarding aging, the focus was on reducing the impact of American oak and prioritizing toasts that enhance freshness.
