Quinta Milú La Cometa is the purest and most vibrant expression of the terroir of La Aguilera, a small village in the Ribera del Duero region of Burgos.
This 'Vino de Pueblo' (Village Wine) is crafted by the visionary Germán R. Blanco under a philosophy of minimal intervention and 'micro-vinification'. Sourced from old Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) vineyards with an average age of 70 years, planted at high altitude on clay-limestone and sandy soils, La Cometa moves away from over-extraction and excessive wood to seek elegance, freshness, and fruit. The harvest is manual and selective; in the winery, the grapes are partially foot-trodden and fermented with indigenous yeasts. Aging takes place in a combination of used barrels, large-capacity foudres, and vats, allowing the wine to breathe without masking its varietal character. The result is a red wine with soul, tension, and a silky texture that redefines the classic profile of Ribera del Duero towards a more ethereal and authentic style.
Cherry red color with violet rims, clean and bright. On the nose, it is an explosion of fresh red and black fruit (currants, blackberries), accompanied by floral notes (violets), balsamics, and a subtle mineral background. On the palate, it is juicy, with a vibrant acidity that provides length, fine and polished tannins, and a persistent, spicy finish.
Centenary vineyards in La Aguilera (Burgos) at 900m altitude. Artisanal production with traditional foot-treading and minimal intervention. Respectful aging in foudres and used barrels to preserve the fruit.
Serve between 15-16°C in a Burgundy-style glass to enhance its floral aromas. Ideal to accompany roasted suckling lamb, grilled red meats, Iberian cured meats, or cured sheep cheeses.
