The wine comes from a selection of old vineyards located at different altitudes and orientations. Every year, it is decided, based on the quality of the grapes they produce, which ones will make up the Prior Scala Dei.
They are heirs to the tradition of the Carthusian monks, who selected the best vineyards in the region and were the first to sell bottled wines in 1973.
Forgotten for a while, it has regained its vitality and has become one of the best references of the appellation.
