Viña Pomal Gran Reserva is one of the classic wines from Rioja, recognized for its seriousness and exceptional quality. For over a century, this wine has only been made in exceptional vintages and remains true to its origins. Composed of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano, it reflects the tradition and character of the Rioja terroir. The production is done using traditional vinification, followed by three years of aging in American oak barrels. During the first 24 months, the wine is racked several times to allow for natural clarification. Afterward, it rests for three more years in bottle before commercialization, adding complexity and elegance. In terms of tasting notes, aromas of black fruit, licorice, and violets stand out, accompanied by a spicy background that includes vanilla, pepper, and roasted and balsamic notes. On the palate, it presents a smooth, elegant, and balanced profile, with a long aftertaste reflecting its structure and finesse. This wine is ideal for pairing with legume stews, vegetable dishes, meat or vegetable rice, aged cheese, duck, and blue fish.
