From the leaves of Ginkgo biloba an extract is obtained containing active ingredients (flavonoids, flavones, anthocyanidins) with antioxidant and venotonic properties among others. It increases venous tone and decreases capillary permeability, being indicated in the treatment of minor symptoms such as heaviness and swelling of legs, the appearance of frequent bruising or painful adaptation to temperature changes, and pathologies such as varicose veins, phlebitis, venous insufficiency and hemorrhoids. It acts as a specific cerebral vasodilator, which together with its antioxidant properties make it very useful as a protector of the central nervous system, especially in the elderly, can alleviate the neurological consequences of atherosclerosis and is effective in the treatment of vertigo, tinnitus, dizziness and tension headaches. It can also be associated with treatments for ocular microcirculation disorders and as an aid to antiplatelet agents.
