Contino Graciano is a single varietal Graciano red wine produced by Bodega Viñedos del Contino at D.O.Ca. Rioja.
The Viñedos del Contino winery was founded in Laguardia in 1973, although the estate dates back to the 16th century. It is considered the first to represent the "Château" Bordelais style in La Rioja, a concept promoted by the centenary winery CVNE.
Viñedos del Contino has 62 hectares of sandy-limestone, pebble and clay-limestone soils that are influenced by an Atlantic-Mediterranean climate.
A "contino" is the term assigned to a member of an honorary guard composed of 100 "men-at-arms" who watched "de contino" (continuously, as a permanent bonding relationship) for the royal family since the times of the Catholic Monarchs.
