El Puntido 2022 is one of the most emblematic wines from Viñedos de Páganos, the unique project of the Eguren family in the Rioja Alavesa region. This wine is made exclusively from grapes from the El Puntido estate, a vineyard planted in 1975 at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria, where climatic conditions and clay-limestone soils allow for balanced maturation of the Tempranillo. The production of El Puntido involves manual harvesting and careful selection of clusters. After cold prefementative maceration, fermentation occurs with native yeasts, and gentle pump-overs are performed to preserve the fruit's elegance. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 16 months in new French oak barrels, followed by additional refinement in tank before bottling. On the nose, El Puntido 2022 reveals remarkable depth and complexity, with aromas of ripe dark fruits, cherry liqueur, blackberry, and plum, combined with notes of violet flowers, cocoa, fine spices, noble woods, and a mineral backdrop. On the palate, this wine is powerful, structured, and silky, with great concentration that maintains a fresh balance.
