Mark: Telmo Rodriguez
Falcoeira A Capilla 2016 is a limited production red wine signed by Telmo Rodríguez at D.O. Valdeorras, from one of the most emblematic vineyards of the Bibei river valley, in the area of Falcoeira, Santa Cruz. The vineyard, recovered and worked under organic farming principles, is planted on steeply sloping terraces and granitic soils at an altitude of 400 to 600 meters, which gives the wine freshness and marked minerality.
The blend is composed mainly of Mencía, Brancellao, Sousón and Garnacha, together with other native Galician varieties, all harvested by hand and fermented with native yeasts. Aging is carried out in large foudres and oak barrels, which adds complexity and structure without masking the wine's Atlantic character.
In tasting, Falcoeira A Capilla 2016 stands out for its medium-depth garnet red color, with an intense and complex nose dominated by ripe fruit, notes of chocolate, lactic hints and a mineral and saline background. The palate is fresh, frank and with tannins present, showing an Atlantic profile, personality and typicity, with a long, saline finish.
This wine is a sample of the work of recovery of historic vineyards and native varieties that characterizes Telmo Rodriguez, and perfectly represents the uniqueness of Valdeorras and the expression of the most ancestral Galician terroir.
