María 2020 is an exceptional wine from Viñedos Alonso del Yerro, originating from the D.O. Ribera del Duero. It is made from a meticulous selection of Tinto Fino, grown in two specific plots of the Santa Marta estate, near Roa in the province of Burgos. These plots feature varied soils—clay and limestone with gravel—that impart the wine with notable structure, freshness, and aromatic complexity. The harvest is conducted manually, and each plot is vinified separately in large wooden tanks, preserving the vineyard's identity. After vinification, the wine ages for approximately 17 months in French oak barrels and fudres, followed by an extensive bottle aging before being sold. This careful production process results in a deep and elegant wine that, on the nose, offers intense aromas of ripe black fruits, spices, and toasted notes, alongside balsamic and mineral nuances. On the palate, it is powerful, structured, and very elegant, with mature tannins and a long, complex finish. It is a wine with great personality and aging potential, perfect for pairing with red meats, game dishes, or haute cuisine.
