Marqués de Murrieta Primer Rosé 2023 is a rosé wine from the Rioja DOCa produced by the historic wineryMarqués de Murrieta, one of the most renowned estates in the region. The wine comes entirely from estate vineyards located in Finca Ygay , in the Rioja Alta sub-region, where clay-limestone soils and moderate altitude contribute to balanced ripening and give the wine freshness and elegance.

This cuvée is made exclusively from the Mazuelo (Carignan) grape variety , a traditional Rioja grape that in this case is used as a single variety to create a distinctive rosé within the denomination. The grapes come from selected plots in the Pago Lucas vineyard , part of the Finca Ygay estate, where careful vineyard management ensures fruit of great quality and expressive character.

The harvest is carried out by hand , carefully selecting the grapes at their optimal level of ripeness. Once at the winery, the grapes are destemmed and gently pressed to obtain the free-run juice , which ferments slowly in concrete tanks at low temperature in order to preserve the wine’s aromatic purity and freshness. The wine then rests on its fine lees for several months , gaining texture and complexity, while malolactic fermentation is avoided to maintain vibrant acidity and freshness.

On the nose it shows an elegant and expressive aromatic profile with notes of raspberry, cherry and red apple , accompanied by floral hints and subtle mineral nuances. On the palate it is fresh, delicate and well balanced , with a silky texture, precise acidity and a long finish where red fruit and mineral notes combine harmoniously.

This is a refined and gastronomic rosé, ideal to pair with seafood, fish dishes, light rice dishes, tartares or Mediterranean cuisine , although it can also be enjoyed on its own as an elegant aperitif.
