Marqués de Murrieta Primer Rosé 2023 is a rosé wine from the D.O.Ca. Rioja. This elegant wine is crafted by the historic winery Marqués de Murrieta, one of the most emblematic houses in the region. Sourced from their own vineyards situated in Finca Ygay, in the subregion of Rioja Alta, the wine stands out for its freshness and balance, thanks to the clay-limestone soils and careful grape maturation. This unique rosé is made 100% from the Mazuelo (Cariñena) grape, a traditional variety from the region, used solely in this case to offer a different experience within the denomination. The grapes are hand-selected and processed with extreme care at the winery, where they are gently pressed to obtain the free-run juice. Fermentation is conducted at low temperatures in concrete tanks, preserving the wine's freshness and delicate aromatics. The wine ages several months on its fine lees, enhancing its volume and complexity while avoiding malolactic fermentation to maintain its lively acidity. On the nose, raspberry, cherry, and red apple aromas are enjoyed, accompanied by floral notes and citrus and mineral nuances. The palate is fresh, delicate, and balanced, with a silky texture and a long finish that combines red fruit with a subtle mineral sensation. This wine pairs perfectly with seafood, fish, light rice dishes, or tartares and is also enjoyed on its own as an aperitif due to its fresh and elegant character.
