Moncerbal 2022 is one of the most prestigious single-vineyard wines from Bierzo , produced by Descendientes de J. Palacios from very old vineyards located on the slopes of Corullón. These steep parcels, planted on slate and quartz soils, give the wine remarkable minerality and elegance.
The wine is made mainly from Mencía , complemented by a small proportion of Palomino , a traditional practice found in some historic vineyards of the region. After fermentation with indigenous yeasts and extended maceration, the wine is aged for several months in large French oak foudres or barrels , enhancing complexity while preserving the purity of the terroir.
On the nose it shows aromas of fresh red berries, floral notes and a strong mineral character , with subtle spicy hints. The palate is refined, vibrant and elegant , supported by bright acidity and a delicate texture that leads to a long mineral finish. A distinctive Bierzo wine with excellent ageing potential, ideal with red meats, stews and hearty cuisine.
