Ginebra Tarquin´s The Seadog Navy Gin
This gin is a modern version of Navy Strength Gin style, coming in at 57% ABV. It was chosen as the "Best Gin in the World 2017". It has been distilled with pure water and 12 hand-selected botanicals from around the world. One of the great gins of the moment. On its own with ice, it is a marvel.
Production
For the production of this gin, first the distillation process of Tarquin's Cornish Dry Gin is carried out as a base. To do this, 11 of the botanicals are added to the stills (except for the violets, strawberries, and lime) and left to macerate overnight in a neutral grain spirit base of wheat. Before turning on the stills in the morning, the remaining botanicals are added to complete the recipe. As the stills heat up, Tarquin constantly monitors the process, sniffing and tasting the distilled spirit that comes out of the still at different temperatures. Only the heart of the distillation is taken, the purest part (achieved when the still has reached a temperature of 78 ºC), and the 'heads' and 'tails' cuts (the first and last part of the distillation) are set aside as they do not have the degree of texture and most selective flavor. After that, it is bold, daring, and beautifully balanced. An initial hit of warm, earthy spices with a crunchy juniper backbone. Then, fragrant coriander and rich cinnamon, with a bright touch of zesty orange sorbet to round it all out. Full-bodied, luscious, and creamy. Spicy tingle on the front of the tongue. Magnificently smooth and well-integrated alcohol content.
Consumption
It is recommended to enjoy it on its own with ice, or as part of a gin and tonic.
