On February 26, 1976, several liters of spirits were distilled at the Glenrothes distillery. Those liters went to the barrels, where they have been sleeping for several years. Those dormant barrels have been tested and tested for years, until November 18, 2015, something changed.
That day it was decided that the content of these 13 barrels would be bottled after 3 months of pairing. Exactly, on February 26, 2016, coinciding with its 40th anniversary.
The 1976 Vintage Single from The Glenrothes is a whiskey that has aged for 40 years in American oak barrels of different sizes. Each barrel has given rise to different graduations (48.1% - 33.1%). After the pairing, it has been bottled as a cask strength in a perfect balance: 42.8%.
According to the distillery, The Glenrothes Single Vintage 1976 has notes of coconut and tropical fruits on the nose. "On the palate and at the end we will find cedar wood, cinnamon, nutmeg, dry spices and vanilla."
