Ysios Los Prados is a red wine from the Denomination of Origin Calificada Rioja, produced by Bodegas Ysios. This wine stands out for using the Tempranillo variety, one of the emblematic grapes of the region. It comes from a 5.1-hectare plot planted in 1982, located in a privileged area at the foot of the Sierra Cantabria in Laguardia, 630 meters above sea level, where cultivation conditions are challenging due to strong winds and low temperatures. The harvest is done manually in 10-kilogram crates, ensuring the selection of the best bunches. Afterward, the wine is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by a seven-day post-fermentation maceration, which allows for the extraction of the desired aromas and color from the grape. The aging process takes place in French oak barrels, both new and used, for a period of 12 months, contributing to the wine's flavor profile. In tasting, Ysios Los Prados shows an attractive red color with a violet rim. Its fragrance is intense, with notes of black fruit, plum, currant, licorice, and a mineral background. On the palate, it is firm, serious, and honest, balancing freshness with a soft reduction and a light toast, resulting in an extraordinary wine with the potential to age beautifully.
