Baigorri Belus 2020 is a red wine from the DOCa Rioja produced by Bodegas Baigorri in Samaniego, in Rioja Alavesa. It is produced with 100% Mazuelo (Cariñena) from very old goblet-trained vineyards , a minority variety in the appellation that gives structure, freshness and a very particular character to the wine.
The grapes are harvested by hand with a careful selection of clusters. After fermentation, the wine is aged for about 14 months in new French oak barrels , where it develops greater complexity while maintaining the identity of the variety.
The nose presents aromas of ripe black fruit, spicy notes and balsamic nuances , accompanied by toasted hints from the aging. The palate is structured and balanced, with firm tannins, good acidity and a long, persistent finish.
This Baigorri Reserva 2014 is a red wine from the D.O Rioja. It is defined as a single varietal Tempranillo (100%) from vines considered old vines of low production. It comes from very old Tempranillo grapes, selected manually. Natural pumping over by gravity, long maceration in wooden vats and malolactic fer mentation in French oak barrels. The cultivation of the grapes is sustainable, combining traditional and new means , always respecting the environment. The grapes are harvested by hand, preserving the taste and olfactory characteristics of the fruit. The climate in the Rioja Alvesa is ideal for obtaining quality raw material. This climate can be defined as Mediterranean influenced by the Cantabrian Sea. This wine has been produced by Bodegas Baigorri , a winery located in the town of Samaniego, more specifically under the Sierra de Cantabria. The pioneer in initiating this project was Jesús Baigorri. He counted on the acclaimed Iñaki Aspiazu , in charge of the design and architecture.
