Veuve Clicquot Rosé is one of the most iconic rosé champagnes from the Champagne region, produced by the historic maison Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin , founded in 1772 in the city of Reims. The house gained international fame thanks to Madame Clicquot , known as “La Grande Dame of Champagne,” who introduced key innovations in the 19th century and helped define the elegant and structured house style that still characterises the winery today.
This rosé champagne is made from a base similar to the Yellow Label Brut , blending mainly Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier from various crus across the Champagne region. The distinctive feature of this cuvée is the addition of a small percentage of still red Pinot Noir wine produced by the house , which provides colour, structure and greater aromatic intensity.
After fermentation, the wine undergoes a second fermentation in bottle according to the traditional method and remains aged on its lees for at least three years , developing complexity, texture and a fine, persistent mousse. This extended ageing allows the fruit character to integrate beautifully with the more mature notes derived from lees ageing.
On the nose it shows expressive aromas of red fruits such as strawberry, raspberry and cherry , complemented by hints of ripe fruit, subtle citrus notes and delicate pastry nuances. On the palate it is fresh, structured and well balanced , with a fine mousse, vibrant acidity and a long finish marked by red fruit and subtle mineral notes.
This is a versatile champagne that pairs beautifully with seafood, fish dishes, sushi, poultry and red fruit desserts , and it is also excellent as an elegant aperitif.
