Leirana Genoveva 2022 is a single-vineyard white wine produced by Forjas del Salnés , the project of Rodrigo Méndez in the heart of the Rías Baixas , in the Salnés Valley. It comes from the Genoveva vineyard , an old-vine plot that showcases a precise and terroir-driven expression of Albariño.
The vineyard is planted on granite soils close to the Atlantic Ocean, giving the wine freshness, tension and a distinctive saline character. The old vines contribute concentration and complexity.
The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with native yeasts. The wine is aged in large oak vats and barrels , remaining on its lees to develop texture and depth while preserving freshness.
On the nose it shows aromas of citrus, white fruit and floral notes , along with hints of herbs, wet stone and a pronounced mineral and saline character. On the palate it is precise, elegant and vibrant , with high acidity, refined texture and a long finish.
This Albariño has excellent ageing potential and pairs beautifully with seafood, fish, Atlantic cuisine and fine dining dishes.
