Malpaso 2022 is an outstanding wine from the D.O. Méntrida, produced by Bodegas Canopy, a leading winery in the region. This wine is made with Syrah, focusing on the vineyard and based on organic agriculture. Minimally intervening in the winery, this process aims to express the authentic character of the variety and the terroir. The wine ages in large French oak barrels, which add subtle complexity without masking the fruit, resulting in a balanced and fresh wine with a marked Mediterranean personality. The 2022 vintage has been widely recognized, receiving 90 points in the prestigious Peñín Guide. On the nose, it presents intense aromas of blackberry, blueberries, violet, and black plum, accompanied by Mediterranean herbs, balsamics, licorice, and a delicate spicy background. On the palate, it is juicy and balanced, with ripe tannins and excellent freshness, finishing with a long finish where black fruits and spices reappear alongside an elegant mineral hint. This wine is particularly suited to accompany lamb, grilled meats, stews, mushroom risottos, cheeks, and semi-cured cheeses.
