Villa de Corullón 2022 is a red wine from the Descendientes de J. Palacios winery in Bierzo, which has played a key role in the revolution of wine quality in the region. This wine represents the "vino de villa", capturing the essence of the municipality of Corullón through grapes from around 200 small old vineyards planted on slate soil slopes. The Atlantic climate these vines are exposed to gives the wine remarkable freshness and minerality, creating an elegant profile. Mainly made from Mencía grapes, the wine also includes small proportions of traditional white varieties that have existed in the area since historical times. The harvest is done manually, and fermentation is carried out using indigenous yeasts, enriching the flavors and aromas of the final product. After fermentation, the wine ages for about 12 months in French oak barrels, aiming to achieve a perfect balance between fruit and wine structure, without masking the identity of the terroir. On the nose, Villa de Corullón 2022 offers aromas of fresh red fruits like cherries and raspberries, complemented by floral, herbal, and mineral undertones. On the palate, the wine presents itself as elegant, juicy, and very balanced, with fine tannins, good acidity, and a long, fresh finish, making it an excellent gastronomic choice. It is ideal to enjoy alongside meats, poultry, traditional cuisine, or hearty dishes, highlighting its refined profile and connection to the land where it is grown.
