In the mountainous region of Jaltenango, Chiapas, more than 300 families are part of La Tribu, a local organization of producers that works in Jaltenango and the Sierra Madre. Bean Voyage has collaborated with La Tribu for the past few years, focusing our efforts on sourcing from 65 women producers in their network.
These women not only produce high-quality coffee, but also cultivate resilience and build prosperous businesses for themselves and their families. Despite the structural challenges that small farmers often face, they continue to invest in their lands, expand their knowledge, and work towards long-term stability. Through coffee, they are creating pathways towards economic autonomy and shared prosperity.
This decaffeinated lot called Vayichil, a word that means "to dream" in Tzotzil, a Mayan language spoken in many communities in Chiapas. The name reflects both the care put into the coffee and the vision that these producers have for their future.
The coffee was decaffeinated using the Mountain Water process in Veracruz, a method that helps preserve its complexity and highlights its naturally sweet and smooth character. It is a decaffeinated coffee that can be enjoyed at any time, without sacrificing taste, traceability, or values.
