Sight: 'Color rojo picota muy intenso.'
Mouth: 'Boca amplia, estructurada y taninos dulces. Complejo y persistente. '
Nose: 'Intensidad aromática alta en la que aparecen notas de fruta madura bien ensamblada con las notas tostadas, vainillas y especiadas del noble.'
Pío del Ramo presents the Pío Crianza Red Wine from the Denomination of Origin Jumilla (Spain), made from the grape varieties Monastrell, Petit Verdot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is an example of the certified organic viticulture of the winery, cultivated in calcareous and sandy soils for Syrah and Monastrell, and with a higher proportion of clay for Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Monastrell is grown in goblet training, while the other varieties are trained on trellises, thus optimizing sun exposure and fruit quality.
The production of Pío Crianza follows a classic blend adapted to the climate of Jumilla, characterized by cold winters, hot summers, and scarce rainfall. The harvest is completely manual, with meticulous selection of the grapes both in the vineyard and at the winery. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by a maceration period of 15 to 20 days, which allows for the maximum extraction of aromas and color. Subsequently, the wine is aged for a minimum of 10 months in American and French oak barrels, combining new barrels with second and third-year barrels, which adds complexity and balance.
In the tasting, the Pío Crianza shows a deep red color with purplish hues. On the nose, it unveils intense aromas of ripe red fruits, spiced notes, and a subtle touch of vanilla and cocoa from the oak aging. On the palate, it is a structured wine, with soft and elegant tannins, good acidity, and a long finish that invites further enjoyment. Its balanced character makes it ideal for pairing with red meats, traditional stews, aged cheeses, or even game dishes.
This wine reflects Pío del Ramo's philosophy of combining tradition and respect for the environment, offering an authentic and unique experience of the Jumilla terroir. Furthermore, as it is certified organic cultivation, it guarantees a responsible and sustainable production without compromising quality or flavor.
