Bodegas y Viñedos Labastida presents the Solagüen Carbonic Maceration Red Wine from the Rioja Denomination of Origin (Spain), made from 100% Tempranillo grapes.
Carbonic maceration is the ancestral method of making wines from our area until the appearance of Manuel Quintano. This wine is a tribute to those grape growers who worked this way for centuries.
THE GRAPE
Made from a selection of plots with an average age of 20 years and clay-limestone soil located at an altitude of 500 meters.
THE HARVEST
The 2018 vintage was the latest in many years. The rains and snows were abundant in a cold winter that caused a delay from the budding that the vines did not recover from throughout the cycle. The result: a fresh vintage with medium alcohol content and balanced acidity. Careful manual harvesting in boxes to ensure the perfect condition of the fruit upon arrival at the winery. Fermentation took place in a closed tank with whole bunches for 12 days. Draining and gentle pressing using only the free-run or heart for the production of this wine.
