Viña Pomal Reserva is a red wine made under the Rioja Designation of Origin, by Bodegas Bilbaínas, with 100% Tempranillo grapes.
The centenary Bodegas Bilbaínas were born with a Gallic heart and consolidated with a Riojan spirit. Bodegas Bilbaínas is the oldest bottling firm in La Rioja, and it has the largest surface area of underground cellars in the territory.
Viña Pomal Reserva is a single varietal Tempranillo (100%). Viña Pomal Reserva is characterized by a rather traditional winemaking process: after destemming and crushing, there is a moderately long maceration, and after alcoholic and malolactic fermentations, the wines are racked and lightly clarified before being transferred to barrels. The wine spends 18 months in barrels, traditionally made of American oak. During this time, 2 or 3 rackings are carried out to naturally clarify the wine, avoiding the need for further treatments.
After aging in barrels, the wine spends two years in bottles before being released to the market.
Viña Pomal Reserva is ideal to accompany meat or vegetable rice dishes, moderately strong cheeses, duck, and blue fish. It is recommended to decant this wine before consuming and serve at a temperature between 16 and 18ºC.
