Once the fermentation processes are completed, the wine is placed in American oak barrels for aging for a period of 18 months, after which it is transferred to the bottle for further aging.

The history of Bodegas Marqués de Riscal is the story of an innovative company, pioneer and benchmark of a wine sector in continuous transformation.
The winery was founded in 1858 by Guillermo Hurtado de Amézaga. In 1862 its first wines were bottled, thus becoming the oldest bottled wines of Rioja.
A few years after its founding, the winery quickly began to win numerous awards, but one of the most important came in 1895, when Marqués de Riscal became the first non-French wine to win the Diploma of Honor at the Bordeaux Exhibition.
In 1972 Marqués de Riscal began production of the first white wines from Rueda and, in recent years, the winery has dared to incorporate two new appellations into the project, V.T. Castilla y León and D.O. Getariako Txakolina
