Muffins are small buns in a round shape and end in a point (like a gnome's hat). The traditional recipe has the same ingredients as the sponge cake, but in different proportions: eggs, sugar, butter, wheat flour, yeast and a light lemon flavouring. They are baked in the oven in a metal plate with holes in the shape of the cake, although they are also usually made in small curly paper moulds
Today we can enjoy this delicious traditional sweet, which retains all the flavour of times gone by
