Etna Tinto Planeta is a red wine from Sicily, made from 100% Nerello Mascalese.
The grapes were hand-picked between October 5 and 12 and refrigerated at 10° before hand sorting. After destemming and crushing, the grapes fermented for 12 days with two pump-overs daily.
Planeta's journey began in Sambuca di Sicilia, on the estate owned by the family since the 17th century. Here, three enthusiastic young Sicilians, Alessio, Francesca and Santi Planeta, under the direction of Diego Planeta, began their winemaking adventure in the mid-1980s. The following years were dedicated to pairing the extraordinarily diverse Sicilian soils with indigenous and international varieties. Planeta today encompasses six distinct wine estates in five regions of Sicily.
Tasting Notes for Etna Tinto Planeta
Vanilla, cherry, wild strawberry, a very clean floral effect. Substantial but smooth on the palate. Very expressive fruit with more complex aromatic elements of underbrush, myrtle and oriental spices.
Unexpectedly transforms into a drinkable red wine champion with pronounced savory flavor and a taste profile produced by a very evident ferrous, rhubarb and black pepper touch.
A wine to drink every day. Its adaptability allows it to accompany from a simple pasta dish with tomato to more complex meat and fish dishes.
