This estate wine owes its name to the walls that protected the monastery of Poblet

Description
This estate wine owes its name to the walls that protected the monastery of Poblet from wars and mercenaries.

Provenance
The unmistakable identity of Grans Muralles is found in the stony slate soils (Licorella), but also in the varieties that make it up. After a century of the phylloxera plague, the Torres Family managed to recover extinct native varieties such as Garró and Samsó using modern viticultural techniques. These varieties together with the red Garnacha, Cariñena and Monastrell make up the spirit of this unique wine.

Gastronomy

Very appropriate to accompany the meat dishes - roasts, stews - most typical of Mediterranean cuisine, accompanied with tomato and pepper sauce, or cooked with traditional herbs and spices (thyme, oregano, rosemary, basil, bay leaf, pepper).
Serve between 17 - 18º C.

Tasting notes
Very intense dark garnet colour with hints of dark blue. Aroma of an exotic and deep complexity that shows the great density of the wine, the incredible richness of its matter and its structure. Appreciate the notes of spices (pepper, clove), shrubs (thyme) and small very ripe red fruits (blueberry, redcurrant) on a background of smoke, vanilla and incense. The palate is a real revelation, a different style that at the same time evokes memories of other wines and other horizons. The wine grows as it warms up, displaying - after a few seconds - a fantastic series of flavours and memories... The tannins, dense but sweet, open up, delivering again the fruity and spicy message of the aroma and evolving, in the aftertaste, towards a splendid finish that leaves a long trail and a happy memory.

Type of grape
Cariñena. Classic and traditional variety of the Mediterranean vineyard.

Garnacha Tinta. The most widely grown Mediterranean red variety in the world.
Garró. One of the traditional red varieties that has been recovered in the Catalan vineyards.
Monastrell. This variety -cultivated in the Mediterranean up to the latitude of Châteauneuf du Pape- is also known by the name of Mourvèdre, which evokes its Spanish origin (Murvietro was the Roman name for Sagunto).
Samsó. Red variety, recovered in the Catalan vineyard of remarkable personality.
