• Iceberg: compact head with round, crisp leaves, cultivated in Campo de Cartagena, Valle del Guadalentín, Águilas and Alicante
• Little gem or buds
• Curly leaf: loose or separated leaves
• Romana: elongated leaves, with entire edges and very wide central nerve, or Miniromana, of smaller caliber.
• Tallo or lasparagus lettuce: leaves with an unpleasant taste.
• Simpson-Oak: black and dark seeded.

The leaves contain a lot of fiber, properties against anemia and weakness; they are also diuretic, help to reconcile sleep and cure mild bronchitis. They also contain vitamin A, in the greener leaves, and potassium, so they have antioxidant properties.
